About Vanessa Caruso
Vanessa Caruso is a spiritual director based on Vancouver Island, Canada. She received a Master's degree in Spiritual Formation and Leadership, and then was part of CenterQuest's School of Spiritual Direction inaugural cohort, and she is now the director's executive assistant and also facilitates their month-long Introduction to Spiritual Direction course. In 2021 Vanessa completed an Advanced Certificate in Supervision degree from Fordham University, is co-director of Together in the Mystery, and a host of the podcast Three Association.
Vanessa's love for spiritual direction and for kids led her to Lacy Finn Borgo's 2-part Spiritual Direction with Children Course, which she completed before the pandemic. It was a dream come true for her to receive these generous grants from the Anglican Foundation of Canada and The United Church of Canada and offer this service in partnership with Emmaus Community & Abbey Church.
Vanessa meets regularly with a variety of directees from all over the world and is a member of Spiritual Directors International. Two of the most formative books in her life are Jesus and the Disinherited by Howard Thurman, and Waiting for God by Simone Weil. She loves cold water dips (followed by hot tubs), store-bought cherry pie, and road trips to her hometown of Santa Barbara, California, with her husband of 19 years, Steven, and their 10 year old son, Leo.
